So you should already know the importance of having a well designed website that converts. But, if you don’t have any visitors to convert into customers, then it defeats the purpose.
You need to have your website ranking on the first page of Google when your potential customers search locally for your services. Now, there many different factors in your website ranking on the first page of Google, but making sure your site is optimized for the search engine is one of the most important.
Let’s talk about how to optimize your website so Google knows to show your site in your local city.
The first and most important thing you need to do for your on-page optimization is have your keyword in the title of your website. For example, if you are a plumber in Cleveland Ohio, the title of your website should be something like this “Cleveland Plumber”. This lets Google know that your site is about plumbing in Cleveland. I’m just using Cleveland as an example but you would just simply replace Cleveland with your city.
The next step you need to take is to have “City plumber” in the content of your website. So somewhere on your home page you need to that mixed in. It’s important that it looks natural. Putting that keyword phrase in a paragraph for example would look natural. The key with this is to only have it once or twice. If you put “City plumber” too many times on the homepage, it will look spammy and you will be penalized for that.
Next, add an image to the page and make the title of the image “City Plumbing”. Having an image is another way to let Google know what your page is about.
Now there is a lot of off page factors that go into your ranking, but if you don’t get the on page factors right, nothing else will matter. 2. 82% of all Internet searches come from mobile devices. You only have 10 seconds (I think it’s actually less) to capture a website visitors attention. If they get to your site and they have to pinch and zoom just to read the information they are looking for, they are going to hit the back button and go to a website that’s mobile friendly. You can literally be losing customers as we speak if they have to work just to find information on your website.
3. Not having a mobile friendly website can actually hurt your image. Everyone is mobile now. By not having a mobile optimized site, potential customers will assume that your business is outdated. Recent studies have actually shown that more than have of consumers would actually not recommend a business with a poorly designed website.
4. Research has shown that you will actually convert more visitors to buyers if your website is easy to use and mobile optimized. Turn the tables for a second and think about this… you are searching for something on Google. You are using your phone and you get to a site that is not optimized for mobile. You are most likely going to go to another site rather than try to pinch and zoom your screen trying to read it. Well, your potential customers are going to do the same thing. So people are more likely to spend money with your business if your website is mobile friendly.
There are so many reasons to have a mobile friendly website. The 4 reasons I listed here are by far the most important ones. It’s also important to remember that most web traffic on Maui is from tourists, which means they are coming from a mobile device.
